This picture book is about a pigeon that wants to drive a bus. The pigeon begs the reader to let him drive the bus. The pigeon gets mad throughout the story. The pigeon gets very, very mad, and then he gets even more angry, and then he loses it. Will you let the pigeon drive the bus?
I really like this book. The pics are cool and I love how he begged the reader to let him drive the bus. I also like how he talked o the reader, and how he got more and more angry. I liked when he said “Let’s play drive the bus. I’ll go first.” My favorite part is when he yelled “LET ME DRIVE THE BUS!”
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes silly books.
Joshua Stubbs - A Hippopotamus Ate The Teacher
Do you like funny books? If so, you will love A Hippopotamus Ate the Teacher. It was written by Mike Thaler in 2011. In this book, A hippopotamus eats the teacher. It all starts on a class field trip to the zoo. The teacher, Ms. Jones, tries to feed a hippo a peanut, and she falls in! The voice coming from the hippo was the teacher's! She took the class on the bus, and continued to teach the class. The hippo taught the students math, history, and geography. The students still missed their teacher, so one day during a lesson, the students all grabbed the hippo and turned it upside down. They shook the hippo until Ms. Jones fell out. After falling out, she kept right on teaching like nothing happened. I liked the pictures in this story, but thought there could have been more. The author's message in this story, was don't get too close to a hippo! I recommend this book for children ages 4-7, or anyone who likes funny books like the "Black Lagoon" books.
Mary Chalmers - Goose On The Loose
If you like rhyming books, you will love Goose on the Loose. It was written by Phil Roxbee Cox in 2001. In this story, Goose kept on running over things on his scooter outside. The other characters, Rooster Ron, Ted Bear, and Toad keep telling him to watch out and be careful. The story ends with Goose falling in Penguin's pool. The author's message to the reader was that if you aren't careful, something bad might happen to you. I loved the pictures in this story. They were outstanding! I recommend this book for children in kindergarten, or anyone that likes to ride a scooter.
Dana Quinn - Sylvester and the Magic Pebble
If you like Aladdin Publishing picture books, you will love Sylvester and the Magic Pebble. It was written by William Steig in 1969. In this book, a donkey named Sylvester finds a red, round-like marble pebble. When he said, "I wish it would stop raining, it stopped!" When he put it on the ground, and wished it would rain, nothing happened. Then when he put it in his hand and wished it would rain, it did happen! Then he saw a scary lion, and wished he was a rock. Suddenly, he turned into a rock instead! His parents started to worry when he didn't come home. The pebble was beside him. Since he was a rock, he couldn't pick it up to make another wish. The problem was solved when his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Duncan, went to Strawberry Hill for a picnic. They had the picnic on top of their son, that was now a rock! Mr. Duncan finds the pebble, and puts it on the rock. Sylvester couldn't feel the pebble, but wished he was with his Mom and Dad. Then he turned back into a donkey, and was with his Mom and Dad. I really loved the illustrations in this book. The author had a good message: Be careful what you wish for! I recommend this book for children ages 8-12, or to anyone that loves books about donkeys.
